AMBR Stromberg equipped !

GMBR 2We got the May 2013 issue of Hot Rod NZ magazine today. To be honest, it’s one of our favourite magazines and for many reasons. First, the NZ scene seems so full of life – new imports coming in all the time, plenty of events, you know what we mean. And second, the magazine puts the reader first instead of the advertiser (the US mags have a lot to learn in this respect) and covers that scene in such depth with real support for the hobby – both home and abroad.

Here’s a perfect example. We’ve been following the coverage of John Mumford’s AMBR winning ‘Kelly Brown’ 1927 T roadster ever since the award back in January. But HRNZ has some of the best pictures we’ve ever seen of its Ardun-equipped V8-60 engine. We’re particularly stoked because we always suspected it was Stromberg equipped, but I’d never seen a good enough (close enough) picture to confirm that they were new 97s. Until now. So thanks hugely to HRNZ, Greg Stokes and photographer Alain Sauquet. And thanks to John Mumford and Roy Brizio and his crew for recognising that so many Stromberg linkage and fuel delivery parts are worthy of America’s Most Beautiful Roadster!

PS. Did you get the pun , Greg?  ;>)

New Stromberg banjo spacer

9086KHere we go. Another smart solution to an age-old problem from your friends at Stromberg Carburetor. Launches today..our new Banjo Fitting Spacer (9086K) moves the banjo fuel line out one inch from the inlet fitting, providing instant clearance for the long centre lever arm you find on all tripower progressive linkages.

Ever since we launched our TwoStep 3×2 progressive linkages, we knew that using them with fuel banjos was a problem. Why? Because the long lever you need on the center carburetor to get the system to open those outer (secondary) carbs late enough, wants the same space as the banjo fuel hose. If you leave it long, it rubs on the hose – ie, a double safety no-no. And if you shorten the lever, either the outer carbs come in too early (for our liking) or they don’t reach Wide Open Throttle. Our new spacer solves that problem – simply and safely.

The new, media polished, stainless steel banjo spacer uses our proven Stromberg superseat end, with its correct 18 degree seat, into the inlet fitting (original or Stromberg S-jet). And the short wrench surfaces are designed so you can secure it properly but it still match the bolt head on the Stromberg banjo. When they’re all tightened up against the banjo, it looks like one solid piece. Check it out on our website right now! www.stromberg-97.com. To order, contact your local Genuine Stromberg dealer.

9085K – New Banjo gaskets

OK, so it wasn’t broke, but we fixed it anyway. Our stainless steel banjo fittings have sold steadily since we introduced them a couple of years back. Thousands sold without complaint. So what’s new? The ring gaskets, that’s what. Originally we specified a black fibre washer. The gasket people said they’d work fine, and they did, even though a banjo relies on a tight face to face surface seal. But we’ve up-specced them anyway. The new ones are the same material as our main carburetor gaskets – a high tech nitrile/cellulose mix – which is softer so they compress better for improved sealing. Plus, they’re grey so you see them even less.

With any banjo, you should replace the two gaskets whenever you disconnect the fitting from the carburetor. So we’ve introduced a new pack of 10 Banjo gaskets. Part 9085K. It’s on our website, ready for you to add it to your Stromberg wish list now. Click here.

Maybe it’s time for a quick advertisement.  Stromberg Banjo Fittings. 9082K (single end) and 9083K (double end). We make them from big diameter material with a recess lip on each side to hide the gasket and move the bolt head closer to the banjo. We kept the wrench surfaces short, knocked the corners off the hex and rounded the bolt head too. They’re sized to fit both 5/16inch and 3/8inch hose, with plenty of fuel flow guaranteed. Thanks for listening!
