Stromberg 97 carbs at VHRA Pendine

P1030753Event congestion meant we didn’t make the inaugural VHRA ‘Amateur Hot Rod Races’ at Pendine Sands, but judging by the pictures, a huge load of fun was had by everyone who made the trip to Wales. Sun, sand, sea, traditional hot rods – what more do you want? The event is widely covered on the net by those in a far better position to report than us, so we won’t try here. Our buddies did send us a few pictures, though, including many of the Stromberg-equipped motors that were on the sand – and a few with Stromberg sign writing too (big thanks!)…. So here they are. If they’re your pics and we need to credit them properly, please let us know. Good work Neil and everyone else for making VHRA Pendine a real killer event for traditional rodders here in the UK.

Tripping out Stromberg style

LosersTrip Out II. 6-8 Sept 2013. Last year’s first event set the bar high for quality and yet 2013 lived up to the same promise and some. Still one of the friendliest events I have ever been to. Great people. Cool cars and bikes. Great bands and DJs. Great location with breathtaking scenery. Even a WW2 museum (306th Bombardment Group) just down the road for a quick side trip on Sunday morning. This year’s Prize Draw Giveaway Bike was a period correct, high-stepping 1970’s Nor-Cal style chopper built by Boneshaker Choppers. And Stromberg chipped in with a couple of new 97s plus a few other goodies for the Prize Draw too. Thanks to organisers Estelle, Anna, Andy, Loggy and everyone else who went the extra mile. Dice Dean who shipped his Harley from California for the show!! Simon and Dean (again) for reminding us what happens if you peak too early. Lez for supplying beers when the bar’s decent stuff ran out. And Ed the Wonder Dog for amusing us all weekend.  Enjoy the pics..

3×2 Progressive linkage update

DSC_9188I’m not sure if it’s a blessing or a curse. We develop something cool, everybody likes it and, hey, people even buy ’em! But here at Stromberg, that’s never quite enough. We’re always looking to make things better, even in a small way. And here’s a perfect example.

We’ve made a small running change to all our 3×2 progressive linkages. The regular PRO kits, the PRO-KD kits with kick-down hook-up facility, and the chrome versions of both. You’d barely notice it, but it’s something we’ve been looking at for a while and it bugged us enough to make a change. Basically, the swivel for the lever with the sliding link through it used to have a small set screw in the center so you could lock it off if you wanted. We thought it might make it more versatile, but experience proved us wrong. More often the screw went AWOL. So we’ve deleted it so the swivels match at both end carburetors and the whole system gets a smoother look. OK, that’s all. A small change, but one for the better.
